Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I be listed in the directory if I am a student and not yet licensed?

Yes! Anyone who participated in the foundations training and agrees to the ethical principles can be listed. We will be sure to represent your listing accurately (i.e. not implying that you may have a license if you do not). Please email us if and when your credentials change!

Q. How is the directory useful to me if I work in an agency setting, in management, or in macro practice?

We anticipate that this directory will be used for many purposes beyond clients seeking AOIP private practitioners, likely in ways that we have not yet even considered. One example is that AOIP job seekers may use the directory to look for agencies where AOIP-trained practitioners already work, or employers may use the directory to contact potential employees who are AOIP certified.

Q. Will the directory be publicly searchable?

Yes, the directory will be posted on and accessible to NASW members and non-members.

Q. Do I have to be an NASW member to be listed in the directory?

No. Anyone who attended the foundations course and agrees with the aforementioned ethics can be listed. There may be some future involvement that is limited to NASW members such as training supervision groups or meet-ups, but we will clearly identify member-only trainings. We hope non-members will consider joining NASW as it is membership that allows our association to offer these services.
