The CSU NASW Student Club has chosen the Garden Valley Neighborhood House (GVNH) as the agency where we are encouraging people to give time, funds, food and clothing this year. We are committed to advocate for individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole. GVNH shares that commitment with their continuous work in the community.

Garden Valley Neighborhood House, a 501(c)(3), located in one of the most underprivileged areas in Cleveland, is the largest food pantry in Northeast Ohio. In total, the center provides food to over 10,000 individuals a month. GVNH takes a holistic approach to hunger. They currently have 50 programs that were developed based on needs of the community including many vocational training programs offered to residents. The center is run entirely by volunteer staff, and the Director, Jan Ridgeway, a retired librarian, pays all utility bills out of her own pocket.

To make a
fully tax deductible donation, please send a check made out to Garden Valley Neighborhood House (with Hike 4 Hope in the memo field) directly to 7100 Kinsman Rd, Cleveland OH 44014. To register or donate online, please click the below link.

The three-mile "Hike 4 Hope" starts and ends at Garden Valley Neighborhood House and is inspired by a member of the community who walks this same route as our Hike for Hope in order to receive a bag of food, no matter the weather conditions. The event has a Cleveland police permit and will involve walking as a group on the sidewalks from 71st and Kinsman to 75th and Kinsman, east on Woodland, and north on 79th until you reach Quincy. We'll then proceed east on Quincy and heading north on 93rd until we reach Quebec before returning back to the Garden Valley Neighborhood at 71st and Kinsman. The total distance is 5.3 miles.

Free Parking: Please park in the Garden Valley Neighborhood House lot. Turn left into the first driveway south of the corner of Kinsman and E. 71st St. If it's full, proceed just south and turn left into the parking lot of the Anton Grdina Public School at 2995 E. 71st St. You may park there on June 3 only.
